How to Run a Basic Illustration with LPSS
Welcome Screen
When you open the software the first thing you will see is the Welcome screen. On the desktop version, this screen allows you to input or change your address and add distribution channels if you have more than one contract. To get started, select New Agent under the Agent Menu, then click the Start button located in the center of the screen.

Agent Information Screen
This is the agent information screen where you will create your agent profile. Enter your first and last name in the boxes at the top of the screen. Then enter your access code (which is provided by Marketing Services or is found in the illustrations section of your agent website, under Access Code) and click OK.
At this point you will be prompted to enter other required information, including your desired default state. Then click Return at the top of the screen.
Life Portraits Sales Solutions
You will now be viewing the Life Portraits Sales Solutions home screen. There are four topics to choose from— however, this example will focus on Clients and Cases.

Clients and Cases Screen
The next screen allows you to create and manage your clients, plus you will also be able to store all of your proposals. First click the New button located in the upper right-hand part of the screen, inside the box marked Clients.

Personal Information Screen
This brings you to the Personal Information screen, where you will enter your client's information in each of the italicized boxes. (Even though you are not required to enter information in every box, we recommend doing so.) Then click the Return button at the top of the screen.

Now you will be back at the Clients and Cases screen, and the information you provided on the previous screen is now displayed in the top left corner of the client’s window.

Product Illustrations
It is now time to create a proposal. Click on the New button located under Cases on the right side of the screen. You will be given three options: Basic Illustrations, Illustration and Advisor.

For this example, select Basic Illustration and you will see the Product Illustration-Policy screen. Here you will select your case parameters.
In this example, we’ll use these specifics:
Plan: Advantage Builder II
Plan is: Non Qualified
Class: Non – Tobacco
Face: 100,000
Death Benefit Option: 1/Level
Premium: $1000.00
Mode: Annual
To Age: 121
Avoid MEC (this box is pre-checked and we will leave it checked for this example)
Application State: Iowa
Print to Age: 121
Backdate: (We ignore backdate for this example)
After you finish with the parameters, then select the desired Indexed Life premium strategies by clicking on Premium Strategy.

Premium Strategies Screen
The Premium Strategy screen will prompt you to select the Indexed Life strategies that best meet your client’s needs. You can choose any combination of strategies as long as the weighted percentages add up to 100%. Each premium strategy, because of its individual structure, carries a unique illustrated rate. Consequently, the illustrated rate of your proposal will vary based upon the strategies chosen, and can always be viewed in the Interest column located on the right of the Allocation column.

The illustration software will always default to the One Year Point-to-Point strategy when no other strategies are chosen. For this example, we’ll use the default. When finished, click the Return button in the center of the screen and you will be returned to Product Illustration – Policy screen.
At this point we’re ready to create the basic illustration. Click the Preview icon located on the top toolbar and your basic illustration will be displayed. The basic illustration is Client Approved and, as such, must be printed, signed by the client and submitted with the application.

Report Preview Toolbar
To print the basic illustration, click on the first Print icon located on the upper left side of the Report Preview toolbar.

To save the illustration as a PDF file, simply click the Save Report to PDF icon located on the left side of the Report Preview toolbar. Click ‘Yes’ when asked if you wish to include all reports.
Please note that this example represents a very basic, no frills illustration. For your actual sales situations, many other options—such as Lump Sum, 1035 Exchange, 1035 Basis and Transfer Loan Amount—are available for use. In addition, a full complement of riders is available to meet the unique needs of your client.
